Complex Care Facility, Bloxwich

The proposed new building situated along Lichfield Road, Bloxwich, Walsall aims to be an exemplar development. This involves the demolition of an existing building and redevelopment of the site by erection of single and two storey buildings, to provide a 28 no. bed care rehabilitation facility. The Model of Care is based on the delivery of care environment around the concepts of extra care and rehabilitation and recovery in line with the service model outline.

This facility will provide:

• Promotion of rehabilitation with self-contained and independent accommodation
• Empowering providing access of care and support services when required
• A number of units of accommodation clustered around a core care unit containing a bistro dining area, a communal lounge, therapy space, offices and meeting rooms and registered as a Residential Care Home

A contemporary approach to a traditional building form has been adopted, a purposeful response and departure from the existing institutional type architecture that is commonly associated with this type of development. The language adopted for the aesthetic of the proposed Complex Care Facility is open and inviting, highlighted particularly in the transparent nature of the proposed entrance. The layout and orientation of the buildings have been designed to create a cluster of apartments which create a safe courtyard for the residents.
