Barton Village - Salford

Bullock has recently been awarded the Barton Village project to refurbish, remodel and extend 4 high-rise blocks in Salford for City West Housing Trust.

This is a flagship project for CWHT, with the client’s aspiration to turn the site into one of the most sought after apartment developments in the area.

Formerly under the ownership of Salford Council, the blocks have suffered from years of under-investment. Following extensive consultation with the existing residents, including involving them in the choice of constructor and in the design stage, work commenced in February 2011.

The site, which is bounded on one side by the Bridgewater Canal, will undergo a huge transformation including extensive external landscaping and security improvements including boundary fencing. The plan is to give the site a ‘campus’ feel, with modern new entrances to each of the blocks. The external facades will receive new insulated cladding – there is also the possibility of new roof extensions to form ‘conservatories in the sky’!
