Bullock were approached by Chris Baker (Community Investment Co-ordinator) for North Lincolnshire Homes about the possibility of helping a local school project.  The project is called the St Lawrence Princes Trust “Big Clean Up”.

North Lincolnshire Council received a complaint regarding litter in the Froddingham Road to Avenue Vivian and Doncaster Road to Ferry Road.  This prompted The St Lawrence Academy to embark on a project to improve the appearance of the area.

As part of their work towards the Princes Trust, a group of students from The Academy are working in partnership with North Lincolnshire Council, to complete a project called the “big tidy up”.

As part of this clear up they will be stripping and repainting some metal railings to improve the look of the area.  Therefore to help them Bullock Construction have happily donated the metal fencing paint that they need to complete the job.

The group of students are also offering their support to elderly and disabled residents in the local area whose gardens have become overgrown.  They will clear the gardens so that they are more manageable for the residents and they will be completing litter surveys and litter picks, around the streets.

The group, who won first prize at 2009 Lincolnshire Show for their school garden, will also be raising awareness of the problems of litter and encourage others to take care of their area.  Through promoting the problems of litter and visiting local primary schools to raise awareness with younger pupils they hope to achieve their goal.

Joan Barnes the Academy Principal stated that, ”it is really important that our students work within the local community and are aware of their environment, we all want to live and work in a clean, tidy area that we are proud of.”
